Yin Yoga complements dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize the lengthening and contracting of muscles.
Yin Yoga postures are more passive, mainly on the floor with fewer postures than yang yoga. Postures can last three to five minutes, and even 20 minutes. The time spent in these postures is much like time spent in meditation.
